This book has pretty cakes for all occassions that if you are willing to do some work making flowers, bows, etc., will walk you through it - Some of the cakes are not my 'cup of tea' but it gave me more info than the Colette books.
When I get very motivated, may put the hints how to decorate cakes into action - or may go to the local bakery and buy...but it is a wonderful option for the ambitious cook.
